James L. Brooks Sets Ensemble For First New Film in Over a Decade

Can you believe that it has been about thirteen years since we’ve had a new James L. Brooks film? How Do You Know did not go over well, and it was thought that perhaps it had ended Brooks’ career. Well, that’s not the case, as he’s got a new movie in Ella McCkay ready to go, with 20th Century distributing. Now, we know who’s going to be in the cast.

According to Deadline, Brooks has set Emma Mackey, Jamie Lee CurtisWoody Harrelson, Ayo EdebiriAlbert Brooks, Kumail Nanjiani, and Spike Fearn for the ensemble. The plot centers on a young and idealistic politician juggling family issues alongside a busy work life, all while preparing to take over her mentor’s job, who happens to be the state’s longtime incumbent governor. With a cast like that, as well as a premise very much up Brooks’ alley, this could be a lot of fun. More when we have it.
