‘Kung Fu Panda 4’ Announced for Release in 2024

A fourth Kung Fu Panda movie is officially in the works at Dreamworks Animation and Universal Pictures. Releasing on March 8th, 2024, the film would become the first installment in the series since 2016.

The Kung Fu Panda franchise tells the story of Po (Jack Black), a panda bear who lives in ancient China and is a huge fan of the Furious Five, a group of animals with a high level of martial arts expertise. When Po is appointed as the Chosen One by Grand Master Oogway (Randall Duk Kim) his life changes forever, and he gets to join the team he passionately admires while battling forces of evil.

With three theatrically released movies, a television special, and three series released through a cable network and two streaming services, Kung Fu Panda has become a major animated franchise over the last fourteen years, grossing a combined $1.8 billion at the box office.

The only detail in the announcement regarding the fourth installment was its release date. The previous films have counted with voice performances from the aforementioned Black and Duk Kim, while also including Dustin Hoffman, Angelina Jolie, Seth Rogen, Lucy Liu and Jackie Chan in their stellar cast.
