Ever since Jurassic World Rebirth opened to a healthy box office, there was no question that another installment in the dinosaur franchise was coming. Initially, it seemed like Gareth Edwards would return to direct the next movie, at least until he left the project due to creative differences. Now, it seems like Universal has a leader in the clubhouse to helm the film, and it’s someone familiar with the series. Read on for more.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, J.A. Bayona is Universal’s ideal pick for the job. Bayona previously made Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, so it’s possible the studio is prioritizing somsone who can get on board with the Jurassic World franchise quickly. David Koepp has written the next script, and prior stars Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali are expected to return. Stay tuned to see if Bayona actually lands the job.
