‘The Gray Man’ Sequel and Spin-Off Announced By Netflix

Netflix

Netflix believes it might have a major spy franchise in their hands, as they have announced not only a sequel, but also a spin-off for their most expensive movie as of yet. In his positive review of the film here, Joey Magidson even mentioned how this was likely just the start for the property.

The news comes after a successful debut for The Gray Man, as it was the most streamed movie on the platform during its opening weekend in 92 countries. Joe and Anthony Russo, the directors of the film, will return to helm the sequel. Also coming back for the second installment, Stephen McFeely will be in charge of writing duties.

The currently untitled Gray Man spin-off will be written by Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese (Deadpool, Zombieland) and will explore a different element of the universe established in the first movie. The premise for this new story is being kept under wraps by Netflix.

The Gray Man follows CIA operative Sierra Six (Ryan Gosling) who becomes a secret mercenary for the Agency. After the tables turn on him and is now on the run from the law, the CIA is forced to hire Lloyd Hansen (Chris Evans), a former cohort at the Agency. Lloyd will stop at nothing to take Six out.

Also starring Ana De Armas, The Gray Man is now streaming exclusively on Netflix.
