In February, The Illuminerdi reported that Jodie Foster was interested in joining the fourth season of True Detective, which was being developed by Issa López and Barry Jenkins.
That news has now been confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter, with the Oscar-winning actress ready to join the new season of the series after a “prolonged round of negotiations.” She will also be executive producing the show, alongside Jenkins.
Season 4 of True Detective has also been titled Night Country and is described by HBO by the following:
“When the long winter night falls in Ennis, Alaska, the six men that operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station vanish without a trace. To solve the case, Detectives Liz Danvers and Evangeline Navarro will have to confront the darkness they carry in themselves, and dig into the haunted truths that lie buried under the eternal ice.”
Foster will be playing Detective Liz Danvers, and it is still unclear who will be playing Evangeline Navarro. The fourth season is still in its development/pre-production stages, but Foster’s addition makes it clear that the show will soon enter production, either aiming for a 2023 or 2024 release on HBO.
