Star Wars Celebration: Jude Law to Lead ‘Star Wars: Skeleton Crew’ Project that Jon Watts is Directing

It was announced today at Star Wars Celebration’s Lucasfilm panel that Jude Law would be starring in Jon Watts‘ secret Star Wars series, titled Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. Watts had been developing the series for a while now with his Spider-Man: Homecoming co-writer Christopher Ford and the announcement has been made official today.

It has long been rumored that Watts was attached to a Star Wars project, but those have not been confirmed. A piece on Vanity Fair which was released last week mentioned that Watts was working on a series titled Grammar Rodeo, described as being in the vein of a classic Amblin Entertainment 1980s coming-of-age film, but nothing more had been given.

During the panel, Watts revealed some concept art and said that the series is set during the New Republic Era, and tells the story of a group of 10 year-olds who are lost in the galaxy and trying to find their way home. He additionally said that the series is “not for kids”, which could signal a Goonies-esque vibe that the show is trying to give.

Details on Law’s character have been under wraps, and for the other characters as well, but the show will be released sometime in 2023 on Disney+.
