The Hollywood Reporter has broken the news that Academy Award-winning actor Christopher Walken is set to play Emperor Shaddam IV in Denis Villeneuve‘s upcoming Dune: Part Two. Walken will be joining the star-studded cast of Timothée Chalamet, Florence Pugh, Austin Butler, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Dave Bautista, Josh Brolin, and Stellan Skarsgard in this hotly anticipated sequel.
Shaddam IV is the Emperor of the Known Universe, who sends the Atreides family to Arrakis, knowing full well that it is a trap and that House Harkonnen is awaiting them to make their move and overthrow House Atreides for the total control of the Spice.
Florence Pugh will be playing Princess Irulan, who is the daughter of Shaddam IV, while Austin Butler was cast as Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen. Principal photography will begin this summer, with the film eyeing an October 2023 release date.
