‘This is Spinal Tap’ Sequel in the Works at Castle Rock: Rob Reiner and Original Cast to Return

Today, Castle Rock announced a sequel to the iconic mockumentary, This is Spinal Tap, a few months after they relaunched their film division in October. Rob Reiner will return to direct the film, and reprise his role as filmmaker Marty DiBragi.

Additionally, Christopher Guest, Harry Shearer, and Michael McKean will all reprise their roles as Nigel Tufnel, Derek Smalls, and David St. Hubbins respectively, members of the fictitious group Spinal Tap. The script will also be written by Guest, Shearer, McKean, and Reiner, with Frank Marshall producing.

Sales of the movie’s rights will begin at the Cannes International Film Festival, which will take place from May 17th to the 28th.
