When you watch The Worst Person in the World, you’re going to fall in love with Renate Reinsve. That’s just a fact. The exciting young actress gives one of 2021’s top performances as the central character in Joachim Trier‘s wonderfully full meal of a movie. Truly, the film captures your imagination from top to bottom, but Reinsve is front and center hooking you from the opening scenes. Last month, I got the chance to talk with Reinsve, shortly after seeing the flick at the 2021 incarnation of the Toronto International Film Festival. Now, I’m delighted to bring that chat to you all.
In my rave review out of TIFF back in September, I had this to say:
Renate Reinsve is an absolute revelation. Her performance is one of the year’s best and more than worthy of a Best Actress nomination. It may prove a little too quirky for voters, but the work is so good, you won’t be able to ignore her. Reinsve makes Julie complex and hard to love, but easy to root for.
Below, you can see my chat with Reinsve. I was so taken with The Worst Person in the World, it made this a pretty easy conversation to have. Of course, she’s as charming in person as she is on screen. Plus, it’s just thoroughly engaging to discuss this movie. It’s, without question, one of the year’s very best, so consider this a pleasure. Here’s hoping the Academy recognizes its greatness, as it’s very much in contention for a Best International Feature nomination.Whether or not it gets Oscar attention, this is just tremendous cinema. Be on the lookout for the flick, but take a gander at our discussion next…
Here now is my interview with The Worst Person in the World star Renate Reinsve. Enjoy:

You clicked on an interview with the name of the subject in the title, as well as a 300 word write up talking about her. Where did you miss who she was?
What a strange thing to care about. As someone who has followed the site since day one, and joey’s stuff for over a decade now, he should keep doing exactly what he’s doin
Don’t worry, I plan to…
