31st Annual Gotham Awards Announce Their Nominations!

Moments ago, the 2021 Gotham Awards revealed their nominations, kicking off the precursor season. Keep in mind, there is a strict budget here for eligibility, so while you won’t see something like The Power of the Dog below, for example, it’s not a snub, just a rules thing. That being said, Netflix did quite well for themselves, with The Lost Daughter and Passing leading the way. Plus, this was the first year in which the acting categories are regardless of gender, which is worth noting. Beyond that, remember that small nominating committees lead to interesting nominees with Gotham all the time. For example, they did cite Mass, but only with Reed Birney. That being said, they also gave some solid love to CODA, The Green Knight, Pig, Red Rocket, and Zola, so being eclectic is hardly a bad thing.
