Bernthal, Charles, and Hector set to Lead New HBO Series From ‘The Wire’ Team

The Wire mastermind David Simon and producer George Pelecanos have set up a new six-hour limited series for HBO titled We Own This City, and they’ve announced the men who are going to lead the way – Jon Bernthal, Josh Charles, and Jamie Hector. 

The series will be directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green (Monsters and Men, the upcoming King Richard), based on a book by Baltimore Sun reporter Justin Fenton titled We Own This City: A True Story of Crime, Cops and Corruption. 

Each men will be playing police officers in the Baltimore Police Department as the Gun Trace Task Force is brought under investigation for its rampant abuse of power and corruption. 

Set to begin production in July, the series will be written by Simon, Pelecanos, Ed Burns, and Bill Zorzi, all veterans from The Wire, the iconic series which probed into the drug war in Baltimore, examining the perspectives of both the police and the civilians.
