Blockbusters may be back in theaters this summer, but there will at least be some still available to stream right away in your living room or on your laptop.
One of the biggest offerings is Amazon Studio’s The Tomorrow War, which has dropped its first teaser today for its primetime Fourth of July targeted release date.
Originally set for a Christmas release by Paramount, after the COVID pandemic delayed that date the film was acquired by Amazon Studios and shifted for this new summer release date for audiences to be able to enjoy the picture from the safety of their own home.
Starring Chris Pratt, Yvonne Strahovski, Edwin Hodge, Betty Gilpin, Sam Richardson, and J.K. Simmons, the film is set during a war in the future where humanity is losing the fight against an alien invasion until scientists discover a way to draft soldiers from the past to fight for their army.
The Lego Batman Movie director Chris McKay makes his live-action debut with a script by Zach Dean.
It’s not too often these days that we get a major blockbuster (or film of any kind, really) that isn’t based on any pre-existing property, so it’ll be interesting to see how The Tomorrow War is received when it releases on Amazon Prime on July 2nd.
