First Trailer for “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” Teases Marvel’s Most Kinetic Film Yet

Surprise! The first trailer for Destin Daniel Cretton’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings dropped for Simu Liu’s birthday! Also starring Awkwafina, Michelle Yeoh, Ronny Chieng, Florian Munteanu, and Tony Leung Chiu-wai, in his first western film role as The [Real] Mandarin, the teaser promises insanely kinetic martial arts action set-pieces, shot by the expert lens of Bill Pope, a cinematographer extremely familiar with martial-arts styled action as he worked on The Matrix trilogy. It also also gives us our first glimpse of Shang-Chi’s relationship with Wenwu/The Mandarin, and his role in the movie as being his mentor. Here’s the official synopsis of the movie from Marvel.com:

“ “It’s time for you to take your place,” a voice says in the brand new teaser trailer for Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. But Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) thought he left his past behind, only to discover he’s been drawn into the web of the mysterious Ten Rings organization.”

You can watch the teaser below. The film is slated to release exclusively in theaters on September 3rd:
