With Shiva Baby available in theaters and on digital now, it’s the perfect time to announce that the film’s creative duo of Emma Seligman and Rachel Sennott are teaming up again for their next feature.
Seligman, who wrote and directed Shiva Baby, and Sennott, who starred in the film, will be co-writing a high school sex comedy titled Bottoms which is being set up at MGM’s Orion Pictures. Seligman will once again direct, and Sennott will star in the film, which also sees Elizabeth Banks and Max Handelman as producers.
There’s not a lot of details yet on what the film will entail, but acording to THR the plot will revolve around “two unpopular queer girls who start a fight club to have sex before their high school graduation”.
That’s not a lot to go on, but it’s one hell of a logline, and even the film’s title again shows Seligman and Sennott having fun with the form.
With Shiva Baby generating massive critical success (96% on Rotten Tomatoes), plenty of eyes are bound to be on Bottoms.
