Stanley Tucci, for his performance in Harry Macqueen’s Supernova, has been rejected placement in the Best Supporting Actor category at the 78th Annual Golden Globes, according to Variety. He will instead be placed with his co-star Colin Firth for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama. It’s been announced that Trevante Rhodes has been submitted in this category for Lee Daniels’ The United States vs. Billie Holiday, though the campaign has yet to be finalized.
Despite the category change at this award show, Bleecker Street is campaigning Tucci in the Best Supporting Actor category for the Academy Awards as well as the Screen Actors’ Guild Awards.
Additionally, the four leading men of Regina King’s One Night in Miami—Kingsley Ben-Adir, Eli Goree, Aldis Hodge, and Leslie Odom, Jr.–are set to compete in the Best Supporting Actor category at the Golden Globes. Amazon had initially been campaigning the four separately, with Ben-Adir and Goree in lead and Hodge and Odom in supporting, but the studio was told to choose where to campaign them collectively.
In other Golden Globes news, Andra Day has been submitted to compete in the Best Actress category at the Golden Globes for her performance in The United States vs. Billie Holiday. Joining Day will be both Julianne Moore and Alicia Vikander for Julie Taymor’s The Glorias. Accepted for Best Supporting Actress is Helena Zengel for her performance in Paul Greengrass’ News of the World.
The nominations for the 78th Annual Golden Globe Awards will be announced on Wed, February 3, 2021.
