Fresh off winning Best Picture from the first critics group to announce their year-end awards, Searchlight Pictures has released the first full trailer for Chloé Zhao’s Nomadland (our rave review is here), and announced the film will have a wide release on February 19, 2021.
Looking to gain some momentum from the recent buzz and those critical first accolades from the Boston Film Critics Society, the trailer highlights the elements that place it firmly in the awards conversation, including Frances McDormand’s understated and naturalistic performance, Joshua James Richards’s beautiful cinematography, and Ludovico Einaudi’s poignant score.
Director Zhao also wrote the screenplay for Nomadland, adapting it from Jessica Bruder’s book about modern-day American nomads.
