Netflix announced today that The Midnight Sky, a new science-fiction drama directed by George Clooney, will be getting a trailer debut tomorrow. If you look closely, the release date has been revealed, too. Clooney also stars in the adaptation of Lily Brooks-Dalton’s acclaimed novel Good Morning, Midnight, by The Revenant writer Mark L. Smith. The Midnight Sky is a post-apocalyptic story about a lone scientist in the Arctic (Clooney) who is trying to stop a pair of astronauts from returning home to a mysterious global catastrophe. Felicity Jones co-stars, along with David Oyelowo, Kyle Chandler, Demián Bichir and Tiffany Boone.
This is Clooney’s seventh time in the director’s chair, his first film since 2017’s Suburbicon. He is also producing, once again with his producing partner Grant Heslov, as well as Keith Redmon, Bard Dorros and Cliff Roberts. Heslov and Clooney previously won the Academy Award for producing Best Picture winner Argo in 2013 (with Ben Affleck).
