As awards season looms on the horizon, category placements have become something to really consider. One of the more interesting ones out there concerns the Golden Globes and whether Curry Barker‘s smash hit Obsession would opt for campaigns in the Drama or Musical/Comedy categories. Especially with Inde Navarrette seen as a legitimate contender for a Best Actress nomination, Focus Features has been thinking hard about this choice. Well, a decision has been made. Read on for more.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Obsession is hoping for Globe nominations in the Musical/Comedy categories. The rationale is that it walks the line between comedy and drama, which in prior campaigns for films like Get Out, Poor Things, and The Substance, for example, resulted in them not going for the Drama nominations. Whether this works out for Obsession or not remains to be seen, but you can update your Golden Globe predictions accordingly.
