2020 Golden Globe Predictions

Updated February 26th, 2021

I Know This Much is True (HBO)

This is one of the rare categories where it feels like there’s a road for any of these actors to win. All of them acclaimed veterans of the screen, all of them former nominees (Hugh Grant and Bryan Cranston have won Globes, the other three have not). Mark Ruffalo has been a dominant force for this performance since the moment it aired, and we think he pulls off his first Globes win against tough competition. Grant poses the biggest threat, as they clearly love The Undoing, and if the series can get any win on Sunday night it’ll likely be here.

1. Mark Ruffalo - I Know This Much Is True

Following the parallel lives of identical twin brothers Dominick and Thomas Birdsey in a story of betrayal, sacrifice and forgiveness.

2. Hugh Grant - The Undoing

A modern twist to a classical "whodunnit" tale, when the life of a wealthy New York therapist turns upside down after she and her family get involved with a murder case.

3. Ethan Hawke - The Good Lord Bird

Ethan Hawke stars as abolitionist John Brown in this series based on the novel. "Onion" is a fictional enslaved boy who becomes a member of Brown's family of abolitionist soldiers and finds himself in the 1859 raid at Harpers Ferry.

4. Jeff Daniels - The Comey Rule

A Belgian teenager hatches a plot to kill his teacher after embracing an extremist interpretation of the Quran.

5. Bryan Cranston - Your Honor

A judge confronts his convictions when his son is involved in a hit and run that embroils an organized crime family. Facing impossible choices, he discovers how far a father will go to save his son's life.
