‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Tickets to Go on Sale July 20!

The ticketmasterisation of movies continues: after The Odyssey and Dune: Part Three sold premium tickets far in advance of their releases, Avengers: Doomsday is next. No IMAX screens? No problem! According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel is planning a big launch for ticket sales five months before its wide release, in an attempt to drive hype for the latest installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, following many years of critical and commercial failures.

However, just like The Odyssey and Dune: Part Three, there’s a catch. Not every ticket will go on sale next week, but only the Premium Large Format screens approved under Disney’s new “Infinity Vision” branding, which was created after the studio was unable to secure IMAX screens for the movie in the wake of Warner Bros. having locked all screens for Dune: Part Three, as the Denis Villeneuve-directed movie used IMAX 70mm cameras for select sequences.

THR also revealed that ticket sales come with a runtime. While Avengers: Doomsday is still a few months from being fully finished, the runtime is expected to be 165 minutes, slightly longer than Avengers: Infinity War’s 149 minutes but not as long as Endgame’s three-hour runtime. The movie’s runtime might change closer to release, but it’s likely to be around that range.

Tickets for the re-release of Avengers: Endgame, titled Avengers: Endgame Encore, will also be sold on that day, with the reissue planned for September 25.

Directed by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, and with a screenplay written by Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely, Avengers: Doomsday will boast a star-studded cast comprised of Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Wyatt Russell, Channing Tatum, Simu Liu, Ian McKellen, Tom Hiddleston, Patrick Stewart, James Marsden, Patrick Stewart, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Letitia Wright, Lewis Pullman, Kelsey Grammer, Danny Ramirez, Winston Duke, Alan Cumming, Hannah John-Kamen, Rebecca Romijn, and Tenoch Huerta Mejía.

It will be released in cinemas on December 18.
