A New ‘Nightmare on Elm Street’ Film is in the Works

For too long, Freddy Kreuger has been dormant. The iconic horror villain helped not only to make the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise one of the genre’s biggest, but also New Line Cinema, as that was known as “the house that Freddy built” for years. However, not since the 2010 reboot has anything really of note happened with the character. Until now, that is.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Freddy is back, as Paramount has closed a deal to make a new Nightmare on Elm Street movie. The rights have been licensed from the Wes Craven estate and the film will be made under the new Paramount Primal label. There’s no word on a writer or director yet, let alone an actor to take over Freddy, but the story is apparently “set in the world of A Nightmare on Elm Street, based on the original screenplay.” So, there’s that at least.
