Netflix is Nearing Deals for ‘The Black Ball’ with Penélope Cruz and Glenn Close Alongside ‘Gentle Monster’ with Léa Seydoux Following Their Cannes Debuts

As the Cannes Film Festival gets set to wrap up later today, a few deals have come together. This morning, Netflix has jumped into the fray, picking up two of the potential award winners (stay tuned to find out there) out of the festival in The Black Ball and Gentle Monster. Read on for more.

According to The Hollywood Reporter and Variety, Netflix is nearing a pair of deals for distribution, one for The Black Ball, and one for Gentle Monster. The former is a late breaking award contender, which stars Penélope Cruz and Glenn Close. The latter has been generating Best Actress buzz for star Léa Seydoux since it debuted earlier on at Cannes. In a few hours we’ll see if one or both takes any prizes, but the streamer likely sees some Oscar contention in their future with these two. Stay tuned for more.
