Kenneth Lonergan Returns to Filmmaking with ‘Tomorrow is a Drag’

As the Cannes market is currently underway, Variety has revealed that Kenneth Lonergan‘s next movie, his first project since 2016’s Manchester by the Sea, is gearing up to begin filming in the fall.

Titled Tomorrow is a Drag, Lonergan’s movie will feature his signature blend of humor and character study, which has defined his work since his directorial debut, You Can Count on Me. It will star Aubrey Plaza, Adam Driver, Vanessa Kirby, and Matthew Broderick.

The film will be produced by Sara Murphy, who recently won an Oscar for Paul Thomas Anderson‘s One Battle After Another, through her Fat City outfit. MK2 Films is handling international sales for the picture, as if they didn’t have their hands full with 11 films in the official competition, including five in the main competition: Gentle Monster, The Birthday Party, Minotaur, The Man I Love, and Nagi Notes.

Driver has recently walked the red carpet of the festival for James Gray‘s Paper Tiger, which also stars Scarlett Johansson and Miles Teller. It will be released by NEON later this year.
