‘Weapons’ Prequel ‘Gladys’ Adds a Co-Writer for Zach Cregger

Now that Weapons has won Amy Madigan an Academy Award for playing the evil Aunt Gladys, it seems like it’s full steam ahead for the prequel. Filmmaker Zach Cregger is working on the screenplay, though we now know that he won’t be doing it alone. More below on the writing addition.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cregger is co-writing the script with Zach Shields. Shields has worked on several blockbuster screenplays, including more than one Godzilla sequel. Now, he’s going to be working with Cregger on the Weapons prequel, which has the working title of Gladys. Presumably, Madigan will be playing her again, though who will join her is an open question. More on this one as it develops.

I’m open minded about this, but can’t imagine it’ll be on the same level, so I get it. Still, at least for now, in Cregger I trust.
