No matter the year, the Academy Awards always manage to generate discussion. Today, for our latest Oscar-themed Awards Radar Community Question, we’re focusing on a bit of wish-fulfillment. Sure, the 98th Oscars had a lot of really strong winners, but maybe you really disagreed with one? Or, perhaps you had someone or something come up short that you had been pulling for. So, that’s the focus of today’s question. What is the one Oscar result this year that you would have changed?
Above the line, would you have changed Best Director from Paul Thomas Anderson to Ryan Coogler? Maybe Sean Penn flips over to Delroy Lindo in Best Supporting Actor? It doesn’t have to be One Battle After Another turning into Sinners, either. It could be someone else taking Best Actress other than Jessie Buckley, or a whole other winner in Best Picture. These are all possibilities and opinions that some of you surely share. As long as you’re willing to tell us why, we’re eager to find out these switches you’d make in the biggest of Oscar categories.
Below the line, perhaps you were disappointing that The Perfect Neighbor came up short in Best Documentary Feature? Maybe you had a different pick in Best Original Song? I’m pretty sure if you asked Sean Penn this question, he’d tell you he’d have changed the result of Best Supporting Actor so that someone else would have won instead of him.
