The next Zach Cregger movie is the currently in production Resident Evil, sure, but what of his next one? Well, it potentially was going to be The Flood, an original science fiction film of his. In fact, Netflix had aggressively pursued it, with word of a theatrical distribution what got a deal in motion. However, it sounds like that may not be fully happening, with the project itself now hanging in the balance.
According to The Wrap, Cregger is committed to the film having a theatrical release, while the streamer is not on board with that. The thing is, the potential for a commitment to playing the movie in theaters was what Dan Lin, the President of Netflix Films, pitched to Cregger. Then, co-CEO Ted Sarandos shot that down, leading to the current impasse. So, The Flood is currently stalled until either Cregger or Netflix backs down, or the filmmaker is allowed to take it elsewhere. Stay tuned.
