If you’ve ever wanted to see Emma Thompson and Judy Greer face off, it looks like Dead of Winter is the film for you. The movie hits theaters on September 26th and today, a trailer was released, one that features a pull quote from none other than our own editor Joey Magidson. Brian Kirk directs a screenplay by Nicholas Jacobson-Larson and Dalton Leeb, with both Greer and Thompson seemingly playing against type in an action-thriller.
This is the official plot synopsis from Vertical:
Hit by a blizzard, a grief-stricken loner (Emma Thompson) gets lost among backroads near a Minnesotan lake and stops for help at a remote cabin in the woods. Here she discovers a young woman (Laurel Marsden) kidnapped by a desperate couple (Judy Greer, Marc Menchaca) who are armed and intent on murder. Isolated and without cell service, this unlikely hero realizes she is the woman’s only hope of survival.
