After premiering yesterday at the Cannes Film Festival, it was only a matter of time until Die My Love sold to a distributor. After all, not only is it a Lynne Ramsay movie, but it stars Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson. Reviews indicate that it’s a tough film in many ways, though Lawrence is getting some very strong notices. Nothing suggested any issues finding a buyer, but less than 24 hours later, it now has one.
According to Variety, Mubi is buying the movie. They had some excellent success with The Substance out of Cannes last year, so this could be a similar kind of campaign brewing. If so, it will bode very well for Lawrence, Ramsay, and the film itself. Stay tuned for more on Die My Love, but this festival title should be headed stateside before the end of the year.
