2024 brought Challengers and Queer from director Luca Guadagnino. The filmmaker still has his American Psycho remake and Sgt. Rock adaptation on the horizon, but his next work is already in the can. It’s the thriller After the Hunt, which Amazon MGM Studios is releasing this year and stars Julia Roberts. Now, we know when the film will hit screens.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie is coming out on October 10th in limited release, with October 17th representing a wide release. Guadagnino directs from a script by Nora Garrett, with the cast besides Roberts including Ayo Edebiri, Andrew Garfield, Chloë Sevigny, and Michael Stuhlbarg. The plot is described, in the article, as: “After the Hunt focuses on a college professor (Roberts) who is forced to confront her own dark past when a prominent student (Edebiri) makes an accusation against one of her colleagues (Garfield).” More on this one when we have it, but it has a very awards-friendly release date, which is promising.
