Awards Radar Staff Top Ten Lists For 2024!

By awarding 10 points for each film’s #1 placement, 9 points for a #2 placement, etc., the collective Awards Radar Staff Top 10 of 2024 would be:

  • 10. Longlegs and The Wild Robot – 18 points
  • 9. The Substance – 20 points
  • 8. Nosferatu – 23 points
  • 7. The Seed of the Sacred Fig – 25 points
  • 6. Conclave – 29 points
  • 5. The Brutalist – 39 points
  • 4. I Saw the TV Glow – 40 points
  • 3. Dune: Part Two – 41 points
  • 2. Anora – 42 points
  • 1. Challengers – 48 points

For now, my Top 10 of 2024 is:

  • 10. Monkey Man
  • 9. Red Rooms
  • 8. Rebel Ridge
  • 7. A Real Pain
  • 6. Memoir of a Snail
  • 5. Black Box Diaries
  • 4. Chicken for Linda!
  • 3. Sing Sing
  • 2. His Three Daughters
  • 1. The Fire Inside

My favorite among these lists would be between Niki’s for the His Three Daughters mention, Steve and Miles’ for the Sing Sing mentions, and Maxance’s for the About Dry Grasses mention (it was my #1 last year). Glad to see those films recognized!

I suppose this is a good example of how the preferential ballot can play out. The Substance and The Brutalist were #1 on two lists but finished 5th and 9th. Meanwhile Challengers was the winner without being anyone’s favorite.

I regret not being able to see enough of last year’s releases to participate in this, but man, hats off to Danny Jarabek‘s ranking of I Saw the TV Glow at #1 on his list. Such a unique, beguiling movie that I haven’t been able to shake since seeing it myself.
