Hot on the heels of a very good showing at the Golden Globe nominations, A24 has released a full trailer for Brady Corbet‘s The Brutalist. The cast of the movie is led by Adrien Brody, Felicity Jones, and Guy Pearce, with the supporting cast consisting of Joe Alwyn, Raffey Cassidy, Stacy Martin, Emma Laird, Isaach De Bankolé, and Alessandro Nivola. Corbet directs, while co-writing with Mona Fastvold. You can see The Brutalist in theaters on December 20th. Joey saw it back at the Toronto International Film Festival and was impressed by it, writing in his review here that “Movies just don’t get made like this one anymore.”
This is the official plot synopsis for the film:
Escaping post-war Europe, visionary architect László Toth arrives in America to rebuild his life, his work, and his marriage to his wife Erzsébet after being forced apart during wartime by shifting borders and regimes. On his own in a strange new country, László settles in Pennsylvania, where the wealthy and prominent industrialist Harrison Lee Van Buren recognizes his talent for building. But power and legacy come at a heavy cost…
