2025 Producers Guild Award Documentary Nominees Announced

This afternoon, the Producers Guild of America released their 2025 Documentary Motion Picture nominees. The documentaries up for the PGA award are Gaucho Gaucho, Mediha, Mountain Queen: The Summits of Lhakpa Sherpa, Porcelain War, Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story, and We Will Dance Again. We’ll find out the PGA winner on February 8th.

Today, the Producers Guild of America (PGA) announced the 2025 Documentary Motion Picture nominees that will advance to the final round of voting for the 36th Annual Producers Guild Awards.  Winners will be announced on Saturday, February 8 at the Fairmont Century Plaza.  

The films nominated for Outstanding Producer of Documentary Motion Pictures are listed below in alphabetical order:

Gaucho Gaucho

Mediha 

Mountain Queen: The Summits of Lhakpa Sherpa

Porcelain War

Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story 

We Will Dance Again 

Note: These films are in the process of being vetted for individual producer eligibility.

Last year, producers Lauren Domino, Matthew Heineman and Joedan Okun were honored with the award for Outstanding Producer of Documentary Motion Picture for “American Symphony,” which intimately followed award-winning musician Jon Batiste’s journey in composing a symphony while his wife underwent cancer treatment.

Nominees for Sports, Children’s and Short Form Television Programs will be announced this Friday, December 13. The nominees for Theatrical Motion Pictures, Animated Theatrical Motion Pictures, Television Series/Specials, and Televised/Streamed Motion Pictures will be announced on Friday, January 10.

The Producers Guild Awards honors excellence in motion picture, television and emerging media productions, as well as the most notable names in the industry shaping the producing profession.  Honorees this year include Chris Meledandri (David O. Selznick Achievement Award) and Dana Walden (Milestone Award). 

Each year the PGA Awards have been attended by the industry’s biggest players including Charles D. King, Gail Berman, Tom Cruise, Mindy Kaling, Martin Scorsese, Michael DeLuca, Pamela Abdy, Guillermo del Toro, Cate Blanchett, Emma Stone, Bradley Cooper, Margot Robbie, Sherry Lansing, Sandra Oh, Leslie Odom Jr., Kate Hudson, Sacha Baron Cohen, Greg Berlanti, Steven Yuen, Tracee Ellis Ross, Ryan Murphy, and many more. Additional information about this year’s highly anticipated awards show and its ancillary pre-events will be announced soon.
