As written! Denis Villeneuve will return for another movie very soon, with Warner Bros. setting the date for his latest picture on December 18, 2026, with Legendary Pictures executive producing.
Villeneuve’s project is set to be an “event film,” but details are kept under wraps. Some sources suggest that it could be Dune: Messiah due to its Christmas release date, but the filmmaker has also said that he would do another project before returning to the world of Arrakis.
He has been attached to adapt the book Nuclear War: A Scenario, which could be his next movie, but Villeneuve may have a change of heart and finish what he started since his first adaptation of Dune in 2021. However, nothing is set in stone yet. We’ll find out soon enough what he is currently cooking, but one thing’s for sure, it will be, as Legendary said, an event to remember.
