Love Lies Bleeding is a showcase for Katy O’Brian. Opposite Kristen Stewart, O’Brian more than holds her own, with a showy role that Rose Glass‘ film truly lives and dies on. That you go along with the wild movie is a testament to the actresses, to be sure. Earlier this week, I spoke to Glass and O’Brian about how the flick came together. You’ll hear from the filmmaker soon, but today, O’Brian is here to talk.

The cast, led by Katy O’Brian and Kristen Stewart, commits to the material. O’Brian and Stewart have a volitile chemistry that permeates all of their scenes. The physical presence and intensity of the former, as well as the consistently surprising nature of the latter, mix deftly. O’Brian really breaks through here, while Stewart adds another ace turn to her impressive resume.
Below, you can see my chat with O’Brian. We didn’t have a long time to talk, but we had a good time, sort of reveling in the wild nature of the work. It’s bold independent cinema, to be sure, so picking the brain of someone given one of the lead roles is always a pleasure. She’s great, both here and in the movie, so that’s certainly a plus. Give the bold work a look this weekend when Love Lives Bleeding hits theaters. Don’t miss it…
