Syfy’s Resident Alien has been off the air for almost a year and a half after releasing its second season in two parts. Now, the sci-fi comedy is finally back, adding some new twists to its established mythology and some enticing new character interactions. Harry (Alan Tudyk, previously interviewed here by Joey) is still trying to lay low in Patience, Colorado as an alien with the help of friends like Asta (Sara Tomko) and D’Arcy (Alice Wetterlund), something that’s becoming increasingly difficult considering the extraterrestrial presence and interest in the area.
Awards Radar had the chance to speak with members of the supporting cast about how their characters have evolved and to preview what’s ahead in season three.
Tomko and Wetterlund shared their impressions on how the new season and the show in general will definitely appeal:
“We watched a few episodes the other day. We were like, it’s so good. It’s so well-rounded. It’s so funny. It’s so heartbreaking. It’s just comedy with heart. We leveled up. For people who haven’t seen it yet either, it’s coming to Netflix this month. Now there’s going to be thirty million more viewers who have the opportunity to access it. We’re hoping that that brings about another audience of watchers.”
Levi Fiehler and Meredith Garretson, who play Mayor Ben and his wife Kate, praised the quality of their costars:
“They all bring their unique comedic sensibilities into a scene. Corey is a master improviser, so that’s always really exciting, doing scenes with him. He’ll stick to the script, but then he’ll just tweak something and you can’t help but usually break character and start laughing. Alice and Alan both, same. They have different styles of what they do and how they approach a scene.”
Corey Reynolds, who plays Sherriff Mike, spoke about his character’s intense intricacies:
“I feel like some of the things that he’s saying now are now being accepted by our audience. That’s just Mike being nuts. Obviously, no one wants to eat a sandwich with dirty hands, but he has his way. I think he just sees everything he does as seminal. If someone was writing a book about him, it would be a million pages long, because he has all these little things that, if the world just knew about, would be a better place. I think that’s how he sees his little quirks.”
