What Would An “Alternate” Academy Award Nominations Lineup Have Looked Like This Year?

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to a fun little exercise that I like to do each year. A day or two after the Academy Award nominees are announced, I like to look at what the alternate version of the nominations would be. Imagine a Best Actor race that includes Zac Efron for The Iron Claw, as just one example. Or, what about any of the below the line categories. Mostly, this just something fun to do the day after the agony and the ecstasy of the Oscar nominations. Here, Saltburn isn’t shut out, nor did Greta Gerwig miss in Best Director for Barbie. Read on for my various other examples below!

Like last yearthe year before, as well as the year prior, I want to explain this a little bit more. What you’re going to see is how the Oscar nominations would look in an alternate universe. Essentially, if you remove the actual nominees from each Academy Award category, what would it look like? Would any categories look better? In most years, the answer is usually yes. This year, however? I actually think the Academy largely made the right calls. You can see next and decide for yourself…

I am still catching up so I haven’t added to this yet. I just wanted to comment on The Color Purple that I just watched and I am massively disappointed in the Academy this year. The Color Purple should be leading the pack in nominations. I love the songs, the acting, production values. It’s my favorite along with Anatomy of a Fall and Barbie.

Question are were all the songs from The Color Purple eligible for nominations? I know only two can be selected. I’m guessing they are but I want to make sure.

I struggled with supporting actor . I had several choices. I didn’t feel could leave out the Past Lives actors if they don’t get it right the film is less effective.

Yeah even if you take the actual nominees you like and add your own. I can see a few supporting actor performances missing.Lead actor was tough for I think for the most part the ones who made it should have .

I still haven’t had the chance to see Origin so that could have made my list .But I look forward to seeing it.
