Sunday Scaries: Horror Video Games to Look Forward to in 2024

The Sunday Scaries are upon us once again! Yes, as the weekend concludes, most of us feel an oncoming sense of anticipatory dread about the week ahead. Anxiety about work manifests itself into a feeling that’s known as the Sunday Scaries. However, we at Awards Radar are here to combat that, by taking back the name. Now, we want you think about a horror-centric piece on the site when you hear the term. So, let us continue on with another installment of the Awards Radar Sunday Scaries! Today, we look forward to some of the 2024 horror efforts that coming on our video game systems…

Last week, I rank down (here) some of the horror films to look forward to this year. That idea got me thinking about video games, which can be at their best when tackling horror. Every year, we get some exciting new entries into the genre. Recently, there’s been some remakes and remasters that introduce older games to newer audiences. Also, certain franchises are still going strong, as well as dormant ones rising again. So, there’s a lot going on in the field.

A few things stand out among the year, and especially within the dozen that I pulled below. One is that there are a lot of high profile remakes and remasters once again. The big one of the latter is The Last of Us Part Two, which gets an upgrade for the next generation consoles. It’s one of the best games ever made, so consider that a must play. From the former, Silent Hill 2 is another classic, as well as considered one of the scariest games of all time, so that’s gotta be something to look out for. Among original ideas, Digested is my big pick, as you attempt to escape a giant snake in a body-cam style survival game. Yes please.
