Shawn Levy, the filmmaker behind next summer’s Deadpool 3, the upcoming sequel that will mark the return of Ryan Reynold‘s vigilante for the first time since 2018. Jackman could be seen wearing the iconic yellow outfit Wolverine wears in the comics. The actor never got to use it during the time he played the character in 20th Century Fox’s mutant saga.
While the plot of the upcoming film is safely kept under wraps, it’s been speculated that the movie will deal with multiple realities from within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Jennifer Garner, who played Elektra more than two decades ago in Daredevil, will return to play the vigilante in Levy’s sequel. The fact that other characters from the Fox movies can appear within Deadpool 3 opens up plenty of possibilities for the plot of the film.
Some of Deadpool’s allies from the previous installment will also be making another appearance when the character comes back next summer. Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hilderbrand) will be there to help Wade face the next threat he crosses in his path, and the romance between the protagonist and Vanessa (Morena Baccarin) will continue in the sequel.
Deadpool 3 joins a couple of other MCU movies set to premiere on the big screen in 2024, including Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts. The three productions will be a part of Phase Five of the franchise. The multiverse has been cracked wide open, and it remains to be seen if the Avengers will be strong enough to prevent it from collapsing.
