Searchlight released the first teaser trailer for Yorgos Lanthimos‘ upcoming film, Poor Things. The film features a star-studded cast, including Emma Stone, who has worked previously with Lanthimos, Willem DafoeMark RuffaloRamy YoussefJerrod CarmichaelChristopher Abbott, and Margaret Qualley.

As the director of The Favourite, The Killing of a Sacred Deer, and The Lobster most recently, Lanthimos is known for his trademark deadpan dialogue through dark humor and absurd circumstances. Poor Things is set to expand on the absurdist universes of Lanthimos and promises to be a must-see for fans of his work. It is based on an adaptation of Alasdair Grey’s novel of the same name with the script written by Tony McNamara. The film was produced by Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe with Lanthimos and Stone (in association with her Fruit Tree Banner) also producing.

The film is set to be released in theaters on September 8, 2023. Watch the teaser trailer below.
