The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed DiscussingFilm’s reports on Clint Eastwood preparing his likely-to-be final film Juror No. 2 at Warner Bros. with Nicholas Hoult and Toni Collette in talks to star in the project.
According to THR, the movie will “take place during a murder trial and follows a juror, to be played Hoult, who realizes that he may have caused the victim’s death. He must decide whether to manipulate the jury to save himself, or reveal the truth and turn himself in.” Collette will play a prosecutor. Production is slated to begin this June, with Eastwood being one of the oldest working filmmakers at 93.
Eastwood initially wanted Cry Macho to be his final film, but its critical reception was mixed. According to sources from THR, Eastwood reportedly wanted to make another movie with a strong screenplay to end an illustrious career in film with a high. Jonathan Abrams wrote the screenplay, and minor rewrites were done to add some new characters and change the protagonists’ age. With how fast Eastwood is known to make movies, the film could very well release at the end of the year or earlier in 2024.
