The Marvelous Alex Borstein Celebrates Her Upcoming Musical Comedy Special

Alex Borstein is a woman of many talents; comedian, singer, actress, voice artist, storyteller just to name a few. Last night I was thrilled to witness the three-time Emmy winner show off several of those talents in a live performance to celebrate her upcoming musical comedy special, Alex Borstein: Corsets & Clown Suits.

Over the span of her 30-plus minute set, Borstein, with the help of musicians and muses Eric Mills and Salva Rey, entertained a captivated audience at the cozy Manhattan club, The Django. The set was filled with her one-of-a-kind storytelling and outrageous musical productions. It included subjects that ranged from the recent attacks on access to female contraception to a Little Mermaid parody which worked through a lengthy list of sex toys, her parents influences on here comedy, even working in her Lois Griffin voice from Family Guy. Borstein not only kept the audience laughing but also thinking with her thought-provoking takes on today’s world.

Her special, Alex Borstein: Corsets & Clown Suits is described as: “A deeply personal and wildly fictitious account of one woman’s attempt to f*** with perception. A night of comedy, music, and waxing rhapsodic. A unique comedic special that will lead audiences into Alex Borstein’s mind through a marriage of humor and music, Corsets & Clown Suits is equal parts provocative and whimsical. Borstein’s self-penned performance showcases her captivating form of storytelling, with the help of her muse and maestro, Barcelona-native musicians Eric Mills and Salva Rey.”

In attendance at the event were several VIPs including Borstein’s father, as well as co-stars, Kevin Pollak and Caroline Aaron, from The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. The series, which has earned Borstein two of her Emmys and four nominations, begins its fifth and final season on April 14th, exclusively on Prime Video. She plays Susie Myerson the fast-talking manager of title character, Miriam “Midge” Maisel played by Rachel Brosnahan. If you have not watched yet, she is a stand-out in the series which is packed with funny and talented people.
