Ben Affleck’s ‘AIR’ To Receive Wide Global Theatrical Release From Amazon Studios

Ben Affleck‘s latest film, AIR, will receive a wide, global theatrical release in theaters on April 5th, 2023. The film will be released on Prime Video after its theatrical release window. Warner Brothers Pictures will handle the domestic distribution of the title, while MGM will be in charge of the international distribution of the project.

The film tells the story of Sonny Vaccaro (Matt Damon), a shoe salesman at Nike who works towards getting Michael Jordan to sign a deal to wear their shoes. The screenplay was written by Damon, Affleck, and Alex Convery. Production took place over last summer in Los Angeles, California, with Robert Richardson serving as cinematographer.

Jennifer Salke, Head of Amazon and MGM Studios, had the following to mention regarding the release of the film: “Ben, Matt, and this all-star cast have delivered a fantastic film that will move, inspire, and entertain audiences around the globe. With Ben’s incredible direction, the film delivers a nostalgic look back at a culture-defining moment that absolutely lends itself to a global theatrical event.”

In addition to Affleck and Damon, the cast of the film includes Jason Bateman, Viola Davis, Cris Tucker and Marlon Wayans. AIR will be released in theaters on April 5th, before being available to stream on Prime Video at a later date. The project was first announced to be in development at Amazon in April of last year.
