Gotham Awards To Give Adam Sandler Performer Tribute Award

The Gotham Film & Media Institute Announced that it would award Adam Sandler with a Performer Tribute. The 2022 edition of the Gotham Awards will be taking place on November 28, in person, at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City, with Uncut Gems filmmakers Josh Safdie and Benny Safdie presenting the award to Sandler. Nominations for the 2022 Gotham Awards will occur on October 25 at 12pm ET.

Sandler has had a resurgence of his career as of late, having starred in a slew of critically acclaimed films, such as The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected), Uncut Gems, and, most recently, Hustle. He is currently working on another movie with the Safdie brothers, which will be set in the world of high-end sports card collecting.

In a statement, Jeffrey Sharp, executive director of the Gotham Film & Media Institute stated that “Adam Sandler’s spectacular performances across some of the most popular films of the past three decades have inspired the community of filmmakers that we represent here at The Gotham time and time again. Adam has proven that he is a brilliant talent who can deliver genuine heart and hilarious comedy in any role. Whether creating absurdly specific characters, telling jokes, or singing clever songs that we all know and love, Adam Sandler is the consummate performer who has brought immeasurable joy to audiences throughout the world. It’s an honor to name him a recipient of the Performer Tribute for the 32nd annual Gotham Awards.”
