First Trailer For Sam Mendes’ ‘Empire of Light’ Releases Ahead of TIFF Debut

The first trailer for Empire of Light has released online. Written and directed by Sam Mendes, the movie stars Olivia Colman, Michael Ward, Colin Firth, Toby Jones, Tom Brooke, Tanya Moodie, Hannah Onslow, and Crystal Clarke.

Its plot synopsis reads “Set in an English seaside town in the early 1980s, EMPIRE OF LIGHT is a powerful and poignant story about human connection and the magic of cinema, from Academy Award®-winning director Sam Mendes.”

The film will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, which will take place in a few weeks, from September 8th to the 18th.
