If you thought Hollywood scraped the bottom of the barrel for useless video game movies, think again! Namco Bandai is currently developing a live-action adaptation of Pac-Man and Wayfarer Studios. That’s right, a game with little plot or character development will get a live-action adaptation, though details of how it will integrate Pac-Man in a live-action world are currently kept under wraps.
However, the project will be based on an original idea by Chuck Williams, with Justin Baldoni, Manu Gargi, and Andrew Calof producing on behalf of Wayfarer Studios, while Williams and Tim Kwok will co-produce on behalf of Lightbeam Entertainment.
Wayfarer Studios is a relatively new Hollywood production company, having only distributed two feature films, Five Feet Apart, and Clouds, which were both directed by Baldoni. Currently, he is not attached to direct the project, but more details will likely be known soon, as it isn’t the first time that a Pac-Man film adaptation was announced to be in development.
