‘Creed’ Spinoff Centered Around Drago in Development at MGM

A Creed spinoff focusing on the character of Drago (Dolph Lundgren) and his son, Viktor (Florian Munteanu) is officially in the works at MGM. While the plot of the movie is being kept under wraps, Robert Lawton has been hired to write the script.

Creed is a Sylvester Stallone‘s Rocky spinoff focused on Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan) who is the son of Apollo Creed, a boxer who appeared in the original 1976 film, played by Carl Weathers. The third film in the franchise is scheduled to be released on March 3rd, 2023.

Lawton is recognized due to winning a Nicholl Fellowship last year after writing the spec script Becoming Rocky, which served as a detailed analysis of the making of the original movie. He also directed, wrote and starred in the rom-com Sex and Sushi (2006) and wrote the thriller Crave (2012), which was directed by Charles de Lauzirika.
