Chris Pine and Crew Set to Reunite in New ‘Star Trek’ Film

Paramount has announced that on December 22nd, 2023, Star Trek will be returning to the big screen. Star Trek: Beyond in 2016 was the last time we saw Chris Pine and his crew aboard the Enterprise. The cast of Pine, Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, and John Cho have yet to put ink to paper but are expected to return.

Initially, Paramount tried to get the crew back together for a new Star Trek film in 2018, but negotiations with Pine ultimately fell through. Quentin Tarantino also took a stab at a Star Trek project, but to no avail. This time around, WandaVision director Matt Shakman will helm the 2023 film.

The Star Trek franchise hasn’t been missing from pop culture since 2016, though, but found a new home on the small screen. Star Trek Discovery and Picard both stream on the Paramount+ platform. These shows leave a lot to the imagination of what the next installment holds for Pine’s Captain Kirk and crew.
