What a few days it has been! We’re still picking up the pieces from Tuesday’s massive Oscar nominations announcement. We of course now know the Academy Award nominees. My first set of post nomination predictions are here, in all of their speculative glory, and there will be plenty more to say in the days and weeks to come about who and what will take home statues. Today, however, it’s much more about you all, dear readers. So, for this newest Awards Radar Community post, our Community Question is perhaps an obvious one. What did you think of the Oscar nominations? We’re all ears!
Were you fond of the nominations? If so, you were almost certainly a fan of either Flee, The Power of the Dog, or Kristen Stewart (if not some combination of them). Those were some of the contenders that gave their fans something to cheer about, either by over-performing or in Stewart’s case, pulling off the nomination. If you’re among them, don’t be shy about saying so. Not only are you among friends, but you’ll likely be in the majority around these parts…
On the other hand, perhaps you were disappointed? If that’s the case, you’re probably a Lady Gaga / House of Gucci fan, or a lover of films like The French Dispatch and Red Rocket. The latter two were shut out, while the former nearly was, with Gaga notably being left out. If you’re in this crowd, don’t feel the need to hold back, either.

It’s time for you all to chime in now. Did you find the Oscar nominations to be satisfying, unsatisfying, or somewhere in between? All opinions are valid here, so be sure to state your thoughts. As long as it’s respectful, there are no wrong answers here…
What did you think of the Oscar nominations? Let us know!
I’d say they were very satisfying. My #1 movie of the year, Flee, ended up making Oscar history, while my #2 movie of the year, Nightmare Alley, survived a wild 4-7 movie deathmatch for that tenth Best Picture slot. The snubs for Ruth Negga and The French Dispatch in Original Score were the most disappointing, but I’ll live.
I’m also very happy with The Power of the Dog being the one to dominate the competition. Usually I only feel ‘disappointed’ with any given Oscar season if I don’t click with the frontrunner, which certainly isn’t the case this year. I have very little to complain about.
Very fair.
