Franka Potente has made a name for herself as an actress over the years. Whether you’ve seen her in Run Lola Run, The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, or The Conjuring 2, just to name some of her higher profile projects, Potente is outstanding in Run Lola Run, while also grounding the Jason Bourne franchise, so it’s clear she’s a talented actress. So, it’s not terribly surprising that she would eventually step behind the camera. Following a short, she now has made her feature filmmaking debut, writing and directing the drama Home. It’s a dark and tender story, casually observed but with a definite point of view. In short, it’s clever stuff. So, when given the chance to chat with her, it was a complete no-brainer.
Below, you can see my conversation with Potente. We talk about Home specifically, but also just about her writing and directing in general. Hearing her perspective on it all is fascinating, with the added bonus that she’s also super charming. In terms of her filmmaking prowess, it’s clear from this flick that she’s got a big future ahead of her, behind the camera. Home is clear proof of that, besides just being an interesting movie of its own accord. It’s out now, so be sure to give it a shot, either before or after checking out this chat.
Here now is my interview with Home filmmaker Franka Potente. Enjoy:
Home is out now!
