Interview: Isabelle Fuhrman on Obsession, Hard Work, and Achievement in ‘The Novice’

Actress Isabelle Fuhrman first astounded audiences with her impressive performance as the title character in the 2009 horror film Orphan when she was only ten years old, and now, she’s back in a leading role with The Novice, the story of a college rower, Alex, who pushes herself far past her limits to be the best.

The Novice premiered this past June at the Tribeca Film Festival, where it took home three prizes, including a best actress citation for Fuhrman (read our review and interview with director Lauren Hadaway). Awards Radar had the chance to speak with Fuhrman as awards season heats up about the commitment required for this film, as well as the upcoming Orphan: First Kill, a prequel that takes her back to the role that first made her famous.

The Novice will be released by IFC Films in theaters, on digital platforms, and on VOD on December 17th.
